Jeffrey Kuhn earned his BS in electrical engineering and PhD in cell biology from the University of Texas at Austin. Following a postdoctoral fellowship in biochemistry with Thomas Pollard at Yale, Kuhn served as an assistant professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute from 2006-2013 where his lab studied the biochemistry of cell motility. Prior to joining MIT, Kuhn served as a research fellow at the University of Texas at Austin and as CTO for a microscopic imaging startup company, Kuhn has developed and taught courses in microscope optics, cell physiology, and the engineering-biology interface. His publications span diverse works from scanning polarization microscopy and T-cell dynamics to single-molecule imaging of actin machinery and C. elegans cell isolation.
